Jeanjean sets its objectives for 2026

Currently 103rd in the world in the WTA rankings and final direct qualifier for the women’s main draw of the Australian Open, Léolia Jeanjean took stock of her season with Tennis Actu. She also took the opportunity to set her ambitions for 2026.

It was thanks to a tour of South America that Léolia Jeanjean managed to glean the points necessary to make the cut and succeed in obtaining a direct ticket for the Australian Open. Questioned by Tennis Actu, the 30-year-old player fully welcomed this turn of events to her advantage, saying: “I was really very relieved. Beyond being really happy, it was a relief, because I had some difficulties from a certain point in the season. »

Everything will have started rather well for Léolia Jeanjean who considers her start to the season to be “very good”, since the native of Montpellier will have had a series of finals: “I have a final of 100 (in Bangalore), a final of 75 (in Pune) which follow one another, so we are on a very good dynamic”. The rest is just as positive, with a quarter-final at the WTA 250 in Bogota, and another final on a “75”. She even managed to obtain her best career ranking (91st) following her victory in the first round of Roland-Garros.

Good performances which gave Léolia Jeanjean hope of being called up by Julien Benneteau for the Billie Jean King Cup. It ultimately didn’t happen, but the Frenchwoman, although disappointed, still remains optimistic about one day being able to honor a selection with the French team: “To be honest, I thought I was going to be selected for this year’s team. Hard blow, because I really thought I was there, I was playing really well at that time. (…) I was really sad, because I haven’t had the chance to represent my country in the Billie Jean King Cup yet. I hope it happens. I tell myself that if I play well and I’m one of the best French women, it will happen anyway. Now it’s up to me to make it happen. “. The appointment is made for Léolia Jeanjean.

Target top 60

A good start to the season which will be somewhat tarnished by a complicated Asian tour, notably with back problems and administrative hassles for the 30-year-old player: “Asia, which was catastrophic if we are very honest. I won one match in six tournaments, with a back injury which forced me to return to France. (…) I had to do two tournaments in India, I find myself not being able to play in India because I don’t have a visa and it took a very long time…”

Despite everything, with a strong end to the season where doubts and difficulties managed to be overcome by the Southerner, with the added bonus of a ticket for the Australian Open, the Frenchwoman took the opportunity to display her ambitions for the year to come: “Objective: to enter the top 60. Try to have a guarantee of entering the “WTA 1000” tables. (…) And I would like to bring back a title: this year, I made four finals, I did not have a title. I would like to progress on the WTA circuit: start winning a few matches in the 1000s, maybe in the 500s, the 250s… and for it to be something consistent, not just an “achievement”. » The appointment is made for 2026 for Léolia Jeanjean.
