After two weeks of mobilization between Pau and Urt (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), on the A64, the farmers of the Rural Coordination decided to lift the blockades on Friday December 26 at noon, reports HERE Béarn Bigorre (formerly France Bleu).
The spokespersons for Rural Coordination 64 held discussions with the prefect of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Jean-Marie Girier and reached an agreement. Its terms must still be formalized during a final meeting on Friday morning. The farmers will then leave the highway. The prefect did not return to the end of the total slaughter of herds affected by dermatosis, as demanded by the farmers, but several other points could be negotiated.
Nevertheless, farmers will continue to mobilize. Benjamin Loste, spokesperson for Rural Coordination 64 (CR) considers at the microphone of ICI Béarn Bigorre, not having “lost the battle”. “We tried that way, it didn’t work, but we’re going to do it differently,” he announces. The union will meet in the coming days to decide on the continuation of the movement.
On the same axis, the A64, the Carbonne dam, south of Toulouse, is still in place, it has been installed there since December 12.
