Customs told AFP on Saturday, December 27, that they observed during a control operation at the beginning of November on 320,474 Shein packages that 25% of non-textile products were non-compliant, confirming information from the Parisian. Among these irregularities noted during this operation with great fanfare at Roissy-CDG airport, Customs mention counterfeits, missing markings or notices on cosmetic products and electrical appliances, or even standards not respected for certain toys.

This report revises downwards the figures previously announced by the government shortly after this operation. He then stated that out of 200,000 packages checked, 80% were non-compliant. As for textile products – the core business of the Shein platform – they “revealed little non-compliance”report Customs, which attributes this better result to the closure of its marketplace “a few days before the customs operation.”

The latter was held on November 6, and Shein claimed to have temporarily closed its marketplace for third-party sellers in France on November 5. The legal outcome of these checks and the number of possible reports drawn up have not been specified.

The control operation took place the day after the government launched a procedure to suspend the platform after the outcry caused by the sale of child pornography dolls.
