Winner of the Livigno super-G, Marco Schwarz won the first race of his career in this discipline. The Austrian won ahead of the Swiss Alexis Monney and Franjo Von Allmen. First Frenchman, Nils Allègre takes 10th place.
New track and new winner. This is how we can summarize the super-G which took place this Saturday on the unique route of Livigno in Italy. Faster than all the competition, Marco Schwarz won for the first time in his career in this discipline. The Austrian, who had already won a week ago over the giant of Alta Badia, is definitely enjoying the Italian slopes. Starting with bib 4, Schwarz won ahead of the Swiss Alexis Monney and Franjo Von Allmen. The two Helvetians respectively failed 20 and 25 hundredths behind the Austrian.
For his part, Marco Odermatt, leader of the general classification but also of the discipline, finished just off the podium (4th) 0″29 behind Schwarz. Note that Switzerland managed to place five of its representatives in the top 10 of this Italian event. If Schwarz had already stood on the podium in a super-g World Cup event, during the finals in 2023, this is quite simply his first victory, having been crowned junior world champion in the discipline in 2014.
Disappointment for Bailet
On the side of the French clan, emotions are shared. Bib number 1 on his back, Nils Allègre failed to finish in 10th place, almost half a second behind the winner of this event. The biggest disappointment comes from Mathieu Bailet. On target to play for victory until approaching the last intermediate, the Frenchman took a gate three turns from the end, forcing him to go off the track…
Result, retirement and surely a stolen podium. Note the great performance of Simon Jocher. Starting with bib 32, the German finished in a good 5th place, 0″31 behind Schwarz. Present on the calendar this year, the Livigno track, which replaced that of Bormio in preparation for the next Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina, only offered one race this weekend.
