Following the announcement of
the death of Jean-Louis Gasset at the age of 72the emotion was still strong. This Saturday, Yoann Gourcuff, who worked alongside the former Montpellier coach on the Bordeaux side between 2008 and 2010, wrote him a long message full of emotion in his memory via the Instagram account of his wife Karine Ferri.
“ Jean-Louis, I am speaking today via my wife’s social networks to thank you deeply for everything you gave me during our two years together in Bordeaux. From the moment I arrived, you placed your trust in me, and that had a profound effect on me. I will never forget all the moments shared together: the discussions about football and tactics on buses, on planes when we travel, or even these spontaneous exchanges before video sessions », Confided the 39-year-old former playmaker.
“You were able to put me at ease from the first day and integrate me naturally into the teamhe continued. Thanks to you, I gained confidence, I progressed and I took great pleasure in discussing the game and football with you. Humanly, I have exceptional memories of you. We had a relationship based on trust and kindness, and I grew up within this Bordeaux team largely thanks to you, but also thanks to coach Laurent Blanc, the players and all the staff. What wonderful memories shared together. »
Gourcuff: “You are without a doubt the coach with whom I had the best relationship”
“ You had a very detailed analysis of football and the opponents, their strengths and their weaknesses, added the former French international. You knew how to transmit your passion for the game and provide us, on a daily basis as well as in the approach to matches, with details and valuable advice to progress. The pair that you formed with coach Laurent Blanc worked perfectly: you were very complementary. You helped me to believe in myself, to believe that I was capable of scoring goals, even with a header, and above all to gain confidence on the pitch. You often asked players to give me the ball during passing circuits, which made me feel good, integrated and free in the game. Your talks were a real treat. »
And Yoann Gourcuff concludes: “ I have so many beautiful memories of you, shared with the players, the staff and all the staff at Haillan. You are without a doubt the coach with whom I have had the most beautiful relationship, made of trust and kindness. Thanks for everything. My thoughts are with your family and loved ones. »
