While the Biathlon World Cup is on a holiday break, Lou Jeanmonnot headed to Germany for a competition.
We left Lou Jeanmonnot radiant, flanked by the yellow bib of the World Cup leader after her great performances at Annecy-Le Grand Bornand. We will find her at the beginning of January in Oberhof, for the resumption of the World Cup.
In the meantime, Franc-Comtoise is already in Germany this weekend. She will compete this Sunday in the World Team Challenge, a competition organized in a football stadium, the Veltins Arena, home of the Schalke 04 club.
In this duo event, composed of a single relay mass start and a pursuit, Lou Jeanmonnot will team up with Fabien Claude. He knows the competition perfectly, since he won it in 2022 and 2023 with Julia Simon.
No rest for Lou Jeanmonnot and Fabien Claude
At the heart of an Olympic season, with less than two months now before the Milan-Cortina Olympics, some would have preferred to stay warm during this period. But Fabien Claude justifies this choice.
“When the proposal arrived, I studied the question and I also spoke about it to Simon Fourcade, explains the Habs
at Nordic Magazine. The fact that we had a week at home before and that we will have eight days after, I told myself that it was good. It allows me to keep one foot in the competition during the holiday season. Decompressing is good, but I also need to maintain that. I find that it is always better to do a competition rather than a high intensity training session. »
The Blues will start as favorites of the competition, and will have to be wary of the Germans Justus Strelow and Janina Hettich-Walz, or the Finns Tero Seppälä and Suvi Minkkinen. Norway, for its part, fields a pair made up of Mats Oeverby and Juni Arnekleiv.
