After the reopening of the A64 motorway on the Toulouse – Bayonne axis (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), on the evening of Friday December 26, traffic resumed this time in both directions of traffic on the A64 at Pau and Urt (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) after the lifting of the farmers’ blockades on Sunday December 28, indicated Vinci Autoroutes at ICI Béarn Bigorre (ex-France Bleu).
However, tolls remain closed. In detail, it is possible to enter the motorway via the Pau Center toll (n°10), but not to exit. Vinci autoroutes was hoping for a reopening of the exit during the day on Sunday, indicates HERE Béarn Bigorre. Access to the Tarbes Ouest toll (Ibos, n°12) is free. On the other hand, in Lescar (n°9.1) no entry or exit is possible, the reopening of the toll is planned for this Monday. Access is also prohibited in Tarbes Est (Séméac, n°13), the farmers are still on site, according to ICI Béarn Bigorre.
On the Basque Country side, at Urt (n°4), traffic is in both directions, but again on a single lane near the toll. The guardrails still need to be replaced. On the other hand, in the direction of Bayonne, the exit is obligatory at Urt, the motorway is still closed until Briscous.
However, agricultural anger has not yet subsided. Earth and manure were dumped during the night from Saturday to Sunday in front of the town hall of Tartas (Landes), reports Sunday HERE Gascogne (ex-France Bleu). This action was carried out by farmers from the Rural Coordination mobilized against the slaughter of herds affected by lumpy skin disease (LCD).
The mayor of the town, Jean-François Broquères, assures ICI Gascogne that he does not understand these facts. “I am a little questionable about the added value that this brings to their fight”he said. “Cleaning will fall to municipal agents who have nothing to do with it”regrets Jean-François Broquères. A similar action took place on Friday, in front of the French Biodiversity Office (OFB) whose premises are based in Tartas.
