Amandine Fouquenet won a new podium this Sunday, third place in Dendermonde, the fourth podium of her winter in the Cyclo-cross World Cup.
Amandine Fouquenet’s beautiful winter continues! After her first three podiums obtained since the start of winter, the Frenchwoman signed another very good performance this Sunday, climbing onto the third step of the podium during the eighth round of the Cyclo-cross World Cup season near Dendermonde in Belgium. The Frenchwoman failed on the last step of the box behind the Dutch Lucinda Brand and Puck Pieterse, untouchable on Belgian soil.
Once again, the young 24-year-old French rider has proven that she can compete with the best on the planet and thus confirm her very good disposition for several weeks. Victorious in this race, Lucinda Brand (Baloise Glowi Lions) showed news that there was her and the others this season in the world of women’s cyclo-cross. The Dutchwoman has shown impressive consistency since the start of the season with a seventh victory in seven World Cup races this year.
A great battle for second place
If Lucinda Brand showed herself to be uncompromising and untouchable in this race in order to seek the final victory, the battle took place behind between Puck Pieterse and Amandine Fouquenet. The two women fought a great battle for second place. Despite a magnificent start from the Frenchwoman who was able to keep her first place during the first two laps of the race, the latter quickly gave up her leading position to Brand who was able to place a decisive attack in order to take first place and race towards victory.
Fouquenet and Pieterse therefore engaged in a great battle, the latter of which emerged victorious in order to secure second place in this race. Third, Amandine Fouquenet will still be able to console herself with a new podium but above all a signing for the next two seasons with the Belgian team Pauwels Sauzen – Altez Industriebouw.
