Fifth in the first round of the Semmering slalom, Mikael Shiffrin turned everything around in the second to win the Semmering slalom, the last race of 2025.
It is simply unbeatable at the start of winter! Although fifth in the first round of the slalom in Semmering (Austria) this Sunday, Mikaela Shiffrin knocked down everything in her path during the second round. On a damaged track, as in the first round, the American was able to avoid all the traps in order to be the fastest and remain undefeated since the start of winter by signing a fifth success in five races.
Victorious in the first round a little earlier in the day, the Swiss Camille Rast was unable to maintain the leadership and failed only 9 hundredths from the final victory in Semmering. Despite everything, Rast reached the podium for the third time in a row in the World Cup with his third place in Gurgl then his 2nd place in Courchevel. Third, 0″57 behind Shiffrin, Albanian Lara Colturi completes the podium in this race.
French women not at the party
If Shiffrin once again showed all her potential on the Austrian slopes, this is not the case for the French who did not exist this Sunday. Indeed, of the two French women qualified for this race, only one finished the race. Seventh in the second round, Marion Chevrier still made a small leap compared to the first round by climbing 9 positions and thus ranking in 14th place, 5″28 behind the American. Another Frenchwoman entered in this race, Marie Lamure did not see the finish since she made a mistake while riding.
Thanks to this new victory this season, Mikaela Shiffrin obviously retains the lead in the World Cup standings with 500 points gleaned out of a possible 500 ahead. The American is 195 points ahead of Camille Rast who is now ahead of the New Zealander, Alice Robinson, who is absent for this meeting in Semmering.
