The presence of certain cattle remains uncertain, it will depend on their region of origin and the animal movement bans that will be applied.

“We are actively working on protocols with all health authorities”explain Monday December 29 to France Inter the organizers of the Agricultural Show which will take place in the midst of the lumpy skin disease (CLD) crisis.
The organizers of this major meeting of the profession specify “that the final decisions will be taken in January”particularly regarding the presence or absence of cattle at the Show. The event will take place at Porte de Versailles, in Paris, from February 21.
The arrival of cattle from this or that region will mainly depend on the bans on animal movements that will be applied there. Restrictions will, for example, be lifted in Savoie where there are no more cases of lumpy skin disease and where the entire herd is vaccinated.
On the other hand, it is more uncertain for cattle in the south-west of France. Half of the 750,000 animals have received their vaccine there, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, but a period of at least 28 days after the injection and 45 days after the slaughter of the last outbreak must be allowed for animal movements to be authorized again. However, a new case of DNC was confirmed in Haute-Garonne on December 23.
The presence or absence of cows will also depend a lot on the decisions of local breeders. It is already certain that there will be no Montbéliardes, Simmental and Prim’holstein cows. The unions of these three cattle breeds have announced that they will not come. They prefer not to take any risks.
