A captain extends until 2027

Clermont has extended for one season the contract of a leader of its forward pack, now linked to the Jaunards until 2027.

At the end of an experience of two very promising seasons at Aviron Bayonnais, his first two at the highest level, Thomas Ceyte was recruited by Clermont in 2024. A good pick for the XV of the Volcans which found in this second row a real leader. Not for his dizzying measurements (1m98, 120kg), but for his role in the locker room as well as his activity which could not be more generous. “I’m a bit of a white Fijian” he confided to our colleagues at La Montagne on Saturday following the success acquired against Toulon (27-10) in the Top 14 during which he shone brightly.

This convincing performance probably definitely convinced the leaders of the ASM to extend their union until 2027. Linked to the Jaunards until 2026, Thomas Ceyte will be one more year because the optional year associated with his contract has been activated, we report The Team. A true cornerstone of the Clermont pack, the ASM control tower started the first six Top 14 matches with number 5 at the back. During the previous year, he took part in 25 of the 27 matches contested by Clermont in the Top 14, the course of which ended in the play-offs on the pitch of his former club, Bayonne (20-3).

Beforehand, Clermont managed to convince other owners to extend the adventure in Puy-de-Dôme. Scrum half Baptiste Jauneau as well as third row Killian Tixeront, who made his first selections with the French XV this summer for the All Blacks, have both extended their commitment until 2028.
