With its qualification for the next World Cup now in its pocket, the France team must now wait until December 5 and the draw which will be held in Washington.
The Blues have fulfilled their mission. Placed in a group largely within their reach, the French team without trembling qualified for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. And while waiting for next June 11 and the start of the World Cup, the vice-world champions have a first meeting: the draw, on December 5.
If the four hats of twelve teams will be defined precisely according to the FIFA ranking at the end of this November international window, France, thanks to its third place, is already assured of being in hat 1 alongside the three organizing countries and the eight other highest ranked qualified nations.
But if this presence in hat 1 will certainly allow it to avoid Argentina, Brazil, England, already qualified, or Spain and Portugal, in very favorable ballots, certain big names should fail in the other hats.
France with Morocco and Italy?
This is particularly true for Italy, in an unfortunate position in the qualifications and which will have to go through the play-off box, which will earn it a place in hat 4 regardless of its FIFA ranking.
If Germany, in the event of victories in Luxembourg and against Slovakia, should ultimately be seeded, hat 2 should be full of tricky teams, first and foremost Morocco, semi-finalist of the last World Cup, Uruguay, Switzerland or Denmark. Likewise, in hat 3, certain major clients should appear, such as Erling Haaland’s Norway, Algeria or Egypt.
A disaster scenario could thus offer France a group including Morocco and Italy, which would drastically complicate the task of Didier Deschamps’ men.
