A Moroccan international on his way to France

Not selected for the African Cup of Nations, this Moroccan international (22 caps) should make his return to Ligue 1 this winter to try to get back on track.

The African Cup of Nations is currently being played in Morocco, but without Zakaria Aboukhlal. The former Toulouse player, who has 22 caps with the Atlas Lions, was not selected by coach Walid Regragui.

The attacking midfielder is undoubtedly paying for his very timid start to the season with Torino, where he was transferred this summer, but with whom he plays very little: 10 matches including the Italian Cup, and only 235 minutes of playing time.

To relaunch himself, and in particular to try to show himself for the 2026 World Cup, Zakaria Aboukhlal should make his return to Ligue 1. A championship where he played between 2022 and 2025 with the TFC.

Aboukhlal on his way to Nantes

According to Presse-Océan, Zakaria Aboukhlal is the subject of discussions between Torino and FC Nantes. The two clubs would have found common ground for a loan with an option to buy, but the player’s agreement would be missing. L’Equipe is more optimistic in announcing the Moroccan’s imminent arrival on the banks of the Erdre.

Penultimate in Ligue 1, the FCN needs to strengthen itself to ensure its continued existence among the elite. Aboukhlal would be the third reinforcement for the Canaries after Deiver Machado and Rémy Cabella.
