A year and a half after the acquisition by the BHV Marais department stores, the famous store facing the town hall of Paris, several suppliers denounce unpaid people hanging out. Management recognizes “Certain payment delays related to the recovery process”but does not communicate the amount, Tell France Inter Monday, June 16.
Brands sell in the department store but do not work the fruit of sales as they should. Some of these suppliers, who are partly remunerated to the Commission, have decided in recent weeks to close their stands. This is for example the case of the company Au Fil des Couleurs, specializing in the Peints, present at the BHV for ten years, and whose arrears amount, according to its manager Frank Halard, at 80,000 euros. “The sum has not been set but in addition, we have no elements indicating to us when we are paid”denounces the leader. The business manager had to dismiss three employees and intends to bring the case to court. According to him, many brands face the same difficulties. “This is the case for many suppliers, Ensure Frank Halard. When you take a walk in the basement, you realize that the stands are half empty. Suppliers are not paid, they cannot restrain themselves. We arrive at a catastrophic situation where we no longer find anything. ”
An observation shared by an employee interviewed by France Inter and who wishes to remain anonymous. “It feels like seeing an post-war store. In shoes, in lingerie, you will not have the sizes you want, colleagues find themselves not ordering and therefore no longer getting size. We lose customers.” For the management of the BHV Marais, all of this is only “temporary”, with “New brands that must arrive”. Customers, annoyed not to find what they are looking for, sometimes let off steam on the staff, exhausted. According to information from France Inter, the idea of a strike was even mentioned last week and was paused for the moment.
The company of department stores is still awaiting a loan under discussion, in particular with the Caisse des Dépôts to allow it to buy the BHV walls at Galeries Lafayette. Management says it is possible to minimize supplier payment times and promises “The best in the coming weeks” And despite this situation, is optimistic by declaring that “The situation evolves in the right direction and that no new or aggravating element is to be reported”. In the frame “Of an important operational transition linked to the resumption of BHV, certain delays in payment towards our suppliers have been observed. We fully assume this temporary situation, directly linked to the gradual passage of the former operator to our complete autonomy in terms of administrative and financial management”specifies the management. This is exactly the same explanation that gave Franceinfo the management of the BHV in a press release in September 2024 already, emphasizing at the time on “An exceptional and transient situation”.
“From next October, we will have a completely autonomous management of billing, which will definitively end these difficulties”Today adds the management of the BHV. Regarding “Occasional ruptures on certain shelves”They result “Of a deep strategic reorganization of our assortment. This necessary rebalancing aims to give way to new brands, in line with our innovative projects such as the upcoming opening of catering spaces, food halls and sports spaces. This approach also involves selling certain stocks of products that will no longer be renewed”The management of the BHV is justified.
