From August 1, costs will be applied to those who have not installed a Linky meter. This concerns 1.7 million households, while the large installation campaign for these connected meters ended three years ago.
The Linky electric counter, a retiree in Paris does not want to hear about it. He has always opposed his installation. From August 1, he will pay € 7.78 every two months. An additional cost implemented by the network manager for all households that refuse the Linky counter. Unacceptable costs, according to him, that he disputed by mail. “”This is the price of refusal, it’s a lot. If I am forced, I will do it, but I do all the steps so as not to have to do it“, Regrets Jean-Pierre Clément who is also a member of an anti-Linky collective.
This penalty is added to another increase for customers who do not regularly communicate their consumption statement. In total, anti-Linky households could soon pay nearly 77 euros each year.
Paying more, it is the only way to encourage the last recalcitrants, according to Me Laure Rosenblieh, lawyer in energy regulation: “The installation of the meter is provided for by the legal and regulatory framework. On the other hand, in practice, it is understood that the network manager cannot force people or enter their home and even less cut their power supply in electricity“. Today, only 5 % of households have decided to keep their old electric meter. This represents 1,700,000 households.
