The Social Security finance bill returns to the National Assembly on Tuesday, December 2, after a legislative journey full of twists and turns for the suspension of the pension reform, voted on at first reading by the deputies, then rejected by the senators.

It is in this context that Agirc-Arrco, the supplementary pension scheme, is organizing “Retirement Meetings” this week, with nearly 30,000 free meetings by telephone or in an advisor’s office. In Val-de-Marne, the Créteil agency is offering 535 interviews this week and these slots are going like hot cakes, because many future retirees are confused by the situation.

At reception, a few employees wait with their retirement files in hand, looking quite lost. They explain that they want to ask their advisor about the amount of their future pension, “How much (they go) to have” and to “what date” they can leave. The question of starting age actually comes up very quickly in conversations. “We have a small population (elderly insured persons) aged 57, 58 and 59 who come to ask if they can leave early or if the pension reform concerns them”notes the head of the Hamadi Diarra agency.

It must be said that the legislative process of suspending the 2023 reform confuses many future retirees. Antoinette, in her sixties, admits that she “doesn’t understand anything”car “once 62, once 64”. “I wanted to know whether to retire right away or not”she says to her advisor, not surprised by the question. So, as always, Katia shows transparency. “We don’t know anything; we don’t know what will be put in place; we don’t know”replies the professional. She then recalls that nothing has yet been enacted in Parliament and returns to current legislation to explain the current rights of the various policyholders.

A few offices further away, Sylvie lends herself to the same educational exercise. For this advisor, these interviews above all allow future retirees to check their data and take stock of their career. She also takes the opportunity to offer them “depending on their activity”specific devices, such as “combination of employment and retirement or progressive retirement”. “It allows them to reduce their activity, because when they reach a certain age, to continue, it can be complicated for some people”she confides. Since September, this system is now accessible from the age of 60, which has led to a certain revival of interest. “We have a lot of requests, people who are 60 years old or about to turn 60 are on the job, so we have a lot of explanations to give them”notes the professional.

These explanations can be made throughout the year, especially since the Créteil agency has the particularity of welcoming future retirees every day without an appointment. For your manager, you should not hesitate to walk through the door: “The sooner they prepare for their retirement, the sooner we inform them of their rights and the better they can initiate their cases on time”urges Hamadi Diarra.
