It all started on a video posted on the Tiktok social network. The Montpellier Criminal Court sentenced Algerian influencer Doualemn on Thursday, March 6, to five months in prison suspended for “Provocation not followed by effect to commit a crime or an offense”. This 59 -year -old maintenance agent residing in Hérault had published a video in which he called to “Give a severe correction” to an opponent of diet, according to the prosecution. During the hearing of February 24, Boualem Naman (his real name) had admitted to having “carried away”.
An investigation had been opened and the influencer was placed in police custody on January 4. He was released three days later and then expelled the next day, on January 8, to Algiers. He had then been repressed by the Algerian authorities binding France to take it back on its soil. A decision then perceived as a diplomatic camouflet for the French government, in a context of tensions between France and Algeria.
At the same time, the prefecture had notified the influencer the withdrawal of his residence permit and an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). But the latter had urgently challenged this decision and obtained the case on February 6 from administrative justice, the latter enjoining “It is up to the prefectural authority to re -examine the situation of the person concerned within three months”.
