“This conference allows us to completely put the subject of pensions back on the table and therefore to imagine all possible scenarios”indicates Tuesday, November 4 on franceinfo Cyril Chabanier, the president of the CFTC union (French Confederation of Christian Workers) as the Work and Pensions conference, requested by the Prime Minister, begins.
A preparatory meeting will take place in the presence of the Minister of Labor Jean-Pierre Farandou and the social partners. The CGT will not participate, highlighting an agenda problem, explains the union. The CFDT confirmed its presence, as did the CFTC.
For the president of the CFTC, participation in this conference should allow “for example, to put back on the table the fact that we want a retirement by points to have a fair, equitable system”. Cyril Chabanier also wants to address “the subject of hardship which has never really been addressed”.
“It may be complicated to reach an agreement but we will work on scenarios. In 18 month, there is a presidential election so perhaps the candidates will be able to take on these different scenarios, defend their point of view. And if we serve to shed light on the debate, we will have already done a good part of the work”he emphasizes.
