Alta Badia: Christmas takes charge

Clément Noël clocked the best time in the first round of the Alta Badia slalom, ahead of Atle Lie McGrath and Loïc Meillard. But he is only nine hundredths ahead of his runner-up, before the second round scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

This Christmas week, Clément Noël hopes to be there! The Vosgien competes in the last slalom of the year this Monday at Alta Badia, and it went well for him, since he won the first round. After his 12th place in Gurgl and his retirement in Val d’Isère, the Olympic champion (2nd in Levi at the start of the season) hopes to achieve his first victory of the season, and he signed a very clean first round.

Starting with bib 4, in good weather conditions, Noël managed a time of 53.30 and beat the Swiss Loïc Meillard, who started with bib 1, by 26 hundredths. The Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath, who started just after the Frenchman, managed to insert himself between the two, failing nine hundredths behind the leader, but no one managed to dislodge the Olympic champion.

Rassat in the Top 10

It is therefore Clément Noël who will close the starting gate for the second round, which will start at 1:30 p.m. Paco Rassat, one of the three skiers to have won a slalom this season (with Timon Haugan, 5th in this first round, and Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, 12th) took 8th place, 74 hundredths from his compatriot and 48 hundredths from the podium. Everything is possible in the second round. Steven Amiez and Victor Muffat-Jeandet finished in the Top 15.
