And 16 for Magnier!

Already winner of the 1st stage on Tuesday, Paul Magnier won the 2nd stage of the Tour of Guangxi this Wednesday in a sprint. With now 16 successes in 2025, the Frenchman continues to impress.

Clearly, Paul Magnier is unstoppable at the moment. Indeed, while he had already won the day before during the 1st stage,
the Frenchman did it again this Wednesday and won the 2nd stage of the Tour of Guangxi in a sprint. Imperial and untouchable at the moment in the exercise, the rider from the Soudal-Quick Step team notably beat the Czech Pavel Bittner (Picnic PostNL) and the Pole Stanislaw Aniolkowski (Cofidis) at the finish in Jingxi, while Paul Penhoet (Groupama-FDJ) took 8th place.

Before that, if a breakaway had animated the start of the race, the fugitives had been caught six kilometers from the finish. Behind, if Jhonatan Narvaez (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) tried his luck, the Ecuadorian could not prevent a massive sprint from taking place.

Only Pogacar does better than Magnier in 2025

Thanks to his two victories in China, Magnier obviously remains at the top of the general classification with 14 seconds ahead of his first pursuers.namely his two runners-up, the German Max Kanter (XDS-Astana) and therefore Bittner. In addition, this now makes 16 victories for the Frenchman in 2025, the second best total this year behind Tadej Pogacar’s 20 victories.

The Grenoblois also becomes the most victorious Frenchman in a season for 28 years (Laurent Jalabert had won 19 victories in 1997)he who was until then tied with Arnaud Démare (15 successes in 2014). It now remains to be seen whether Magnier will be able to do even better than that in the coming days while the next stages will have a little more relief than the first two.
