And three for Shiffrin!

After her successes in Levi then Gurgl, Mikaela Shiffrin signed this Sunday at Copper Mountain a third success in three slaloms this season ahead of Lena Duerr and Lara Colturi. With the best time in the second round, Caitlin McFarlane was able to move up to 12th place.

In slalom, the boss is still Mikaela Shiffrin. Overwhelming in Levi for the first race of the season in the discipline before doing it again in Gurgl last weekend, the American once again taught her opponents a lesson on the Copper Mountain track. If she had not opened up a significant gap during the first route, the native of Vail did not calculate when it was necessary to close the starting gate.

And that was necessary to dislodge Lena Duerr from first place in the ranking. Ninth in the first round, the German had just seen competitors of the caliber of Anna Swenn Larsson, Katharina Truppe and Lara Colturi break their teeth on her time combined with the two courses. The Albanian, runner-up in the first two slaloms of the season, was close to correction.

Shiffrin undivided

In fact, she made a mistake shortly before the second intermediate which she was able to recover without leaving the course. But it made him lose all hope of victory in Colorado. As a result, Mikaela Shiffrin started with a lead of more than a second over Lena Duerr and it quickly became clear that she was not going to calculate.

If she lost a little time in the second and fourth sector, the American let go of the horses to get a third victory in three slaloms this season without firing a shot. She pushed the German back to 1”57 when Lara Colturi extended her series of podiums with third place, 1”85 behind Mikaela Shiffrin. Wendy Holdener and Anna Swenn Larsson complete the Top 5. However, the American did not achieve full success.

McFarlane did better than Shiffrin

The best time on the second track eluded him by 18 hundredths of a second against… Caitlin McFarlane. After taking 28th place in the first round, the Habs were able to start very early on this second track and they made the most of it. A performance which allowed him to move up sixteen places to take 12th position in this slalom. Marion Chevrier, for her part, gained four places to move up to 20th place when Marie Lamure made a mistake shortly after passing the first intermediate.

With this new victory, Mikaela Shiffrin consolidates her red bib as leader of the World Cup in the discipline but also her first place in the general classification. A status that she will have to defend next weekend on the Canadian slope of Mont Tremblant, where two giant slaloms will be organized.
