Injured since March, Antoine Dupont will return to the French team.
It’s becoming clearer for Antoine Dupont. Injured last March with cruciate ligaments, the captain of the XV of France will soon return to the field. Even if he does not play this fall, his return to contact with the Blues has already been organized: he will resume training at the National Rugby Center. It will be from Monday.
Although he is not one of the players selected for the fall tour, Dupont was invited by Fabien Galthié and will benefit from three weeks of training with the France team. This decision was validated by Stade Toulousain, which allows him to continue his rehabilitation while remaining in contact with the staff and the French players.
William Servat, forward coach, confirmed this return in the columns of Midi Olympique. “Fabien has already spoken about it, but it is actually planned that Antoine will come and go through his resumption of activity. We simply give him the opportunity to train with us. He could have done it with the Crabos in Toulouse”he indicated.
Uini Atonio is also invited
This opportunity is made possible by the cut of the Top 14, which offers two weeks of rest to the Rouge et Noir. The scrum half could have trained with the young people in Toulouse, but the choice was made to welcome him to Marcoussis, the coach thus wishing to maintain the link with his number 9.
Another player is expected at Marcoussis: Uini Atonio. The right pillar of Stade Rochelais, injured in his hamstrings, will also join the France group without participating in training. As with Dupont, his presence illustrates the staff’s desire to keep its executives close.
