Are we going to attend a very social and mobilizer-May 1st?

As every year, unions will parade throughout the country on Thursday, but we could attend a particularly political May 1, two years from a presidential election which is already in all heads.

This May 1st promises above all very social with unions that intend to mark the occasion. First of all because they find it hard to digest the conclave, still in progress, on pensions, and at the end of which they will not get the return of the legal retirement age at 62.

And then, there is the preparation of the 2026 budget and the 40 billion euros in savings that the government tries by all means to find, which today concentrates all the dissatisfaction.

Retirees could see their tax reduction of 10% removed. Officials could suffer from the abolition or merger of certain state agencies. And the French more broadly fear that a new tax is finally born, while the housing tax had been removed by Emmanuel Macron and that the executive repeats that he does not wish to increase taxes.

We could therefore attend well -stocked demonstrations on Thursday, which would allow a left at the same time to return to the political game. The four left forces that officially make up the new Popular Front have announced that they would be there, but the divisions are likely to be always clearly visible.

Mid-April, Jean-Luc Mélenchon had already announced the color by accusing “Those who had not voted censorship” of François Bayrou, namely the PS, to be also “Social warfare” that the government leads, according to him.

All in a tense political context after the vile assassination of Aboubakar Cissé in a Gard mosque, and while Emmanuel Macron received representatives from Muslim institutions to the Élysée Tuesday to try to bring calm.

We can therefore expect very politicized processions, not to mention the national rally, which continues for its part, making the 1st-May, a flagship date of its political agenda. Far from the street, the RN also depends on its 1st May, which he still deemed: finished the traditional tribute to Jeanne d’Arc, Jordan Bardella and his troops now prefer to hold a large meeting every May 1st.

This time, the meeting will be held in Narbonne, on land acquired in its cause: the three deputies of the department are RN. This will be the occasion for a long -awaited speech: that of Marine Le Pen, still suspended from her appeal trial in June 2026.

A 1st-May with two rooms, two atmospheres.
