Biarritz Olympique announced this Tuesday that Cyril Arrosteguy was the new president of the Supervisory Board of the Basque club, following the resignation of Shaun Hegarty in mid-October.
Change at the head of Biarritz Olympique! On October 16, the chairman of the supervisory board Shaun Hegarty resigned, as well as all the members of the board, due to choices “which are no longer his and which he can no longer endorse or assume”. This Monday, a General Assembly of the Biarritz club was held, and several decisions were taken: a capital increase and a transformation of the supervisory board into a board of directors.
1.5 million euros injected
“Following the General Meeting of Monday, November 3, 2025, Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque is proud to announce the completion of a capital increase of 1.5 million euros subscribed by SAB Rugby LLC, an investment company founded by Jérémy Erlich. This AGM also made it possible to vote on the move to the Board of Directors in order to simplify and increase the efficiency of governance and to appoint Cyril Arrosteguy as president. The arrival of a new minority shareholder and the vote of the new administration illustrate the confidence of BOPB stakeholders in the takeover project supported by Odyssée Impact and the new general management. The next stages of this collective project will be announced soon,” writes the Basque club in a press release.
Arrosteguy, like his father
Aged 36, Cyril Arrosteguy is an engineer by training, as we learn Here Basque Countrythen resumed business studies in 2019, and created the KoKooN micro-crèches in 2020. His father Patrick was also president of the BO, from 1992 to 1996 and his brother Olivier wore the jersey of the Basque club in the 2000s. The eight other members of the board of directors are Anthony Louis-Berecochea, Edward Whalley, Julien Raoust, Grégoire Fourquié, Adrien Bichet, Laurent Gueroult, Jérémy Erlich and Bedford Brown. With this new direction, the BO now hopes to find a little more serenity at all levels, and particularly on the ground. The Basque club is 10th in Pro D2 after nine days, seven points from the final stages and six points from the play-off place.
