Thanks to its victory over Australia on Saturday, England overtook France in the World Rugby rankings, to take fourth place.
This weekend marked the start of the Autumn Tour, and matches between the best teams from the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere will multiply, which will change the World Rugby rankings. The rankings were updated this Monday after the first four matches, and the only change to report in the Top 10 is the rise of England to fourth place, to the detriment of France.
The XV de la Rose beat Australia with a score of 25-7 on Saturday at Twickenham, which allows them to count 88.04 points, while France did not play and fell to fifth place, with 87.82 points.
The Blues will challenge the world no. 1
But Fabien Galthié’s men will begin their Autumn Tour this Saturday against the South African world champions and will therefore have the opportunity to glean valuable points. It will be a big test for the Blues, while a few hours earlier, the English will have challenged Fiji, in a match in which they will be the big favorites.
During the month of November, France will also face Fiji, then Australia, while England will host New Zealand and Argentina. The World Rugby rankings are still led by South Africa, victorious in the Rugby Championship last month, and Japan this weekend, ahead of New Zealand and Ireland.

The ranking is calculated using a points exchange system in which teams take points from each other based on the outcome of the match. Whatever one team wins, the other loses. Point exchanges are based on the match result, the strength of each team and the margin of victory. There is a weighting when the match is played at home.
