For this client, Santa Claus was a fool. “I already had volume 1, so it’s better to have volume 2”he explains. Fortunately, it was still on the shelf. And customers flock to the checkout. A man chose to get a refund after giving a gift he had already received. “People are paying more and more attention to their wallets, so it’s true that it’s a shame to spend money so that in the end it doesn’t make the person in front happy”he points.

A store expects around twenty returns per day until the end of January. “We’re going to have an e-reader, a vinyl that was also returned this morning. That’s a pen that the person didn’t necessarily like, we gave them a refund”explains Maryam Kerroum, Cultura director in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine). Mistake under the tree, duplicates… Better to hurry up and exchange them. “It’s a month. Afterwards, we are very flexible. If the product is new, generally, we always find solutions with our customers”explains Maryam Kerroum.

This morning, in a toy store in Lyon, we had to be patient. And when the gift is the right one, sometimes it already needs to be repaired. “This morning, it didn’t want to work. And so, we changed the batteries. And these are new batteries that we bought the same day, here. It didn’t work. But now, it works. I’m satisfied. And afterwards, the little one will be happy too”indicates a mother.

Stores are obliged to accept returns for at least 14 days, so that young and old can enjoy the long-awaited gift.
