The low-cost manufacturer Dacia is enjoying great success: not only do its vehicles sell very well, but they are also the ones that depreciate the least, reveals the latest ranking from the Leboncoin site.

Simple, with the minimum of electronics and a small combustion engine, it is the second-hand car that costs the least: the Dacia Sandero. Sold inexpensively when bought new, five years later, its petrol version has only lost 14% of its value, while on average, a car loses at least 50%. And this is not the only model of the brand concerned. At a dealership, a 10-year-old Duster has just sold for 6,500 euros. A sought-after car: “As you can see, there is not a lot of technology. But it is a vehicle that pleases. In terms of reliability, we can tinker easily”, explains Maxime Nandakumar, manager of Simplicicar in Méry-sur-Oise.

This is a gasoline vehicle. Diesel cars age less well, penalized by environmental standards, particularly large cylinders. Peugeot 3008s, for example, lose 52% in five years. Demand for these diesel SUVs is declining: “At the time, five years ago, you bought a diesel car more expensive than a gasoline car. Today, with the transition to electric, the French are looking for a little more gasoline than second-hand diesel. So you have a rebalancing of prices between gasoline and diesel today on the market”indicates Olivier Flavier, director of the Leboncoin automobile market.

But there are even more marked declines. Electric ones, which can lose up to 63% of their value, like the Renault Zoé. Distrust of battery measurements has a lot to do with it. The only advantage is that this makes these electric vehicles more accessible for small budgets.
