Decathlon joined forces with a giant at 55 billion!

On July 7, the Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale team announced big changes: Decathlon became the team owner, replacing AG2R La Mondiale, a budget of 40 million was scheduled for 2026 (against 28 million this year) thanks to the arrival of a new co-sponsor, and the medium-term objective was to win the Tour de France. This Monday, on the occasion of the second day of rest of the Grande Boucle, the French training unveiled the name of this new sponsor.

These are CMA CGM, the world’s third worldwide transport company in containers and the French first. Created in 1996, the group reported a turnover of $ 55.5 billion in 2024. Partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it has notably sponsored Olympique de Marseille for two years and has become a media giant by buying back Provence Or
RMC-BFM or by launching La Tribune on Sunday.

The group led by Rodolphe Saadé therefore embarks on cycling, through the team called Decathlon-CMA CGM from January 1, 2026. “The commitment of CMA CGM alongside Decathlon is a decisive step in our 2030 strategic plan aimed at the highest world level. Aim the Tour de France with Seixas or recruit?

Currently 11th in the global classification (and French n ° 1), the team led by Dominique Serieys plans to go up in rank with this budget increase and get closer to training like Visma-Lease in Bike or UAE Emirates, which have a respective budget of 50 and 60 million euros for this year. The French training is already on the way to recruiting Olav Kooij (41 victories at 23) and Tiesj Benoot (winner of the Bianche Strade and a stage in Paris-Nice) for next season.
