It is probably the most spectacular Safari route in the world. Over 1,000 km in northern Tanzania are dusty tracks, sometimes difficult to cross. The road crosses one after the other, the most beautiful parks in the country with, at the forefront, lions, giraffes and all the most emblematic animals in Africa.

Everything starts not far from the majestic Kilimandjaro. Peter Alexander is Tanzanian, a safari guide for 10 years. So the road where he takes visitors every day in search of adventure, he knows her at his fingertips. “This route, for me, is a lot because it is the track to go to my office. My office is in a paradise. It makes me happy, I am too proud”he marvels.

Today, Peter has three French people aboard his vehicle who no longer know where to turn. Clémence and Corentin are traveling from wedding, a honeymoon on the safaris road. “The sets are beautiful, it makes the moment a little magical”Comments Clémence.

Among the parks they are going to cross, there is one unique in the world: that of the crater of the Ngorongoro. Two million years ago, there was a volcano that collapsed on itself. It created a wonder of nature. And the safaris route passes in the middle of the crater. The French will be able to observe the greatest animal concentration of the planet, preserved from all human construction. “We forget the time spent on the slopes to be shaken by the holes. It is really worth the detour. The journey is part of the trip, even if it’s long”says Corentin.

The road also crosses dozens of villages where time seems to have stopped. From Maasai, a semi-nomadic people, live there. Families share huts called Bomas, built in earth, wood and straw. But the most important thing is livestock, the only source of income. At night, cows and goats are locked in enclosures made with branches. Their thorns distance wild animals and prevent attacks. “We never leave without our animals because everything we have, our food, our clothes is thanks to our cattle. It’s like our bank. If you need, you take a cow or a sheep to the market to sell it”explains Olchulunoti Leina, living in a Maasai village.

It takes an average week to travel the legendary road. She also goes through another park, perhaps the best known in Tanzania: Serengeti, which means in the Maasai language “the endless plains”. With its four million wild animals, it is only spoiled for choice. The road is taken each year by nearly two million visitors from around the world, attracted by a journey to the lands of the Lion King.
