Doncic makes the Lakers shine

Thanks in particular to a very good Luka Doncic, the Lakers beat Memphis last night, while the Indiana Pacers and New Orleans suffered a fifth defeat in a row.

After six games this season, the record is pretty good for the Lakers (four wins for two losses). Especially since one of the Los Angeles franchises has to cope without LeBron James (sciatica) and has had to do without Luka Doncic (touched on a finger) during the last three meetings.

Back last night against Memphis, the Slovenian leader shone and led his team to victory (117-112). Indeed, at FedExForum, the latter scored 44 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and made 6 assists in just under 39 minutes of play.

Well supported by Austin Reaves (21 points), Doncic brought down the Grizzlies in their den and confirmed his very good start to the season from a personal point of view, he who scored at least 40 points each time in his first three games. A performance worthy of Wilt Chamberlain, who had achieved a similar performance in 1961 and 1962.

Five in a row for the Pacers and Pelicans

If all goes well for the Lakers, this is not the case for Indiana and New Orleans who are, like the Brooklyn Nets, still looking for their first victory at the start of the season. NBA finalist last June and orphans since then of Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles tendon), the Pacers were dominated by Atlanta this time (108-128). If Pascal Siakam (18 points) and Jarace Walker (17 points) tried to lead their franchise to victory, the Hawks of Zaccharie Risacher (13 points) made the difference in the 3rd quarter (34-17) and now have a positive record (three wins in six games).

A little later, the Pelicans lost against the Los Angeles Clippers (124-126). Thanks in particular to a very good Kawhi Leonard (34 points), the other LA franchise managed to get by despite the return of teammates Jordan Poole (30 points) and Zion Williamson (29 points and 6 rebounds) in the final moments. So that makes five losses in a row for Indiana and New Orleans. We had a better start to the season…
