Duralex glassware could be out of the woods. The fundraising launched by the company exceeded the objective of 5 million euros. In less than 24 hours, the French promised to invest more than 15 million euros. A relief for the boss, François Marciano: “This is how the French respond. So, it’s just a joy. Here, internally, with all the partners, we said to ourselves: if we reach 3 million in one month, it won’t be bad. And in fact, you saw, we reached 5 million in 5 hours and 40 minutes”he rejoices.

Investments blocked for 7 years, remunerated at 8% per year, but also simple donations via a kitty. “‘In support of your action’we receive checks like that from everywhere”François Marciano further testifies. This morning again, Sophie Chaudier is overwhelmed by calls: “Since yesterday, we have transformed into switchboard operators”explains the e-commerce assistant at Duralex.

The employees took over the factory themselves more than a year ago, but without an investor. So with now several million euros to renovate it, in particular by purchasing new machines, they are already planning: “We will have new molds, new items, new products. I have to tell you, since 1997, there have been no new products created at Duralex. So, this is something that we are going to do for 2026”hopes Suliman El Moussaoui, quality relay technician at Duralex.

At Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, residents are reassured about the company: “It’s part of the heritage of Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin. And I find that heritage is super important”comments a local resident. “I’m surprised though. It happened very quickly, the fundraising is impressive. So it’s a good thing”adds a man. Another said he was moved: “Yes, it touches me, the fact of giving it for this great company.”

Duralex’s objective now is to launch glass storage boxes in the coming months.
