Capable of the best and the worst, Emilien Jacquelin does not convince this biathlon legend.
Interviewed by
West France a few weeks before the Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina, Raphaël Poirée shared his feelings on the evolution of biathlon, a sport from which he has somewhat distanced himself over the years.
The four-time winner of the crystal globe still has an opinion on the current leaders of the Blues, who shine every weekend in the World Cup.
“I know Éric (Perrot), his parents, very well. He came to my house a year and a half ago, explains the one who has been based in Norway since 2008. He asks the right questions, listens. He is a very good person, calm, kind, respectful and intelligent. He learns very quickly. Every year, he reaches a milestone. »
Emilien Jacquelin, a lack of respect?
“I talked a lot with (Quentin) Fillon Maillet, who has enormous abilities”adds Raphaël Poirée, who is less convinced by the other captain of the France team, and especially by his style.
“(Émilien) Jacquelin, I know him a little less,
he judges. He’s a showman, but biathlon is not a showman’s sport. It’s a sport of respect. He is missing something because his potential is enormous. I think it’s mental. » Too spectacular, Emilien Jacquelin?
