Friday, June 20, farmers block the entry of the Futuroscope of Poitiers with a double objective: to denounce the last aquatic attraction of the park and protest against the new rules for distributing water.
Friday June 20 in the morning, access to the Futuroscope car park is blocked by several dozen tractors. It is the opening of a new aquatic attraction gourmet in water that puts the farmers of Vienne angry. Peasants live it as an injustice in a territory where water is lacking and where they need it more and more. “The Futuroscope must work. But we still manage to open attractions with millions of cubic meters on the same pool while we are going to be reduced by 73 %”Exposed Nicolas Giraud, President of the Vienna Irgine Association (ADIV).
For the new aquatic attraction, the Futuroscope claims not to use more water than in previous years. The park has the right to use up to 600,000 m³ and says only consume only half. Each summer, the prefects impose restrictions on water use for agricultural irrigation. Farmers feel sacrificed.
