The 24 Hours of Le Mans delivered their verdict this Sunday with the success of Ferrari via 499p n ° 83 piloted by Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Philip Hanson. The Porsche 963 n ° 6 and the Ferrari n ° 51 complete the podium.
It’s done ! Ferrari won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the third time. In a race animated by the return of Porsche n ° 6 (Estre – Vanthoor – Campbell) in the last two hours – ending in 2nd place – the Ferrari were faster. If Porsche and Cadillac had dominated the qualifications, the Italian team led the debates in the Sarthe.
Ferrari n ° 83 finished 14 seconds ahead of the German car. As a symbol, it is Robert Kubica, one of the three pilots, who can enjoy Ferrari’s success after having imposed an infernal rhythm. Winner in 2007 of a Grand Prix in F1, he had been the victim of a serious accident in rally in 2011. Revenue from hell, the Polish took first place on the podium of the 93 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Porsche fought well
Part of the last place on the grid, the Porsche n ° 6 led by Kévin Estre made a good comeback. And the Frenchman held in his last relay on the return from the Ferrari. N ° 51 had to be satisfied with 3rd place and n ° 50 (Fuoco – Nielsen – Molina) of 4th place. The hat -trick was not far for Italian cars, but Porsche had decided otherwise. The competitors came across stronger this Sunday and passed by some misadventures like Toyota and n ° 8, which occupied the head in the night, but which had to take a look at the slowdown because of a poorly fixed nut.
For Cadillac and Sébastien Bourdais, the race was frustrating, despite the battle fought. The two V-SERIES. R were on the first line at the start, but had to abandon because of technical problems. “It’s frustrating, but I am really proud and happy for the team that we could show that we have taken the best of what we had,” explained Bourdais, pilot of No. 38.
