This Friday, Amandine Fouquenet finished 2nd in Gavere, during the 7th round of the Cyclo-cross World Cup. A few days after her success in Heusden-Zolder, the Frenchwoman confirms her current good form.
Behind the untouchable Lucinda Brand, Amandine Fouquenet once again finished on the podium. Indeed, a few days after her success in Heusden-Zolder in Superprestige, the young Frenchwoman (24 years old) this time finished in 2nd place this Friday in Gavere (Belgium), during the 7th round of the Cyclo-cross World Cup. If the Dutchwoman was once again imperial (six victories in as many races), the Breton continues to be talked about.
Victorious before Christmas, Fouquenet once again made a strong impression, notably resisting the return of Puck Pieterse (3rd), and finished for the third time this season on the World Cup podium, after Flamanville (2nd) and Namur (3rd). While she currently does not have a contract for 2026 due to the shutdown of Arkéa-B&B Hotels, the native of Vitré continues to give herself the means to dream, she who is 3rd in the general ranking (133 points) behind Brand (240) and Aniek van Alphen (189), who finished 5th this Friday.
Fouquenet: “It was a beautiful battle”
“I’m really very happy, the pressure is off a little after my victory (Tuesday). I’m not going to say that it’s not just a bonus, because I’m going to give everything until the end of the season, but I’m already very happy. The battle for second place (with Puck Pieterse) was really tough, in the physical parts I was a little better than her and so I took the opportunity to make the difference”Fouquenet later explained.
“She was better in the technical parts, she came back quite quickly. It was a great battle. I’m able to make it happen, it’s not just my podium in Flamanville, I did it in Namur, and today (Wednesday), and I won this week. I hope that this can strengthen the choices of the teams that may be interested in taking me for next season…”also declared the Frenchwoman, in comments collected by The Team.
