French taxpayers should pay more taxes this year. Collection should be good, simply because wages have increased faster than inflation.
In a company in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), the majority of employees have been increased this year. This is the case of Camille Maudy, interior designer. She obtained an increase of 7 %. “This is the salary that I expected since my post has evolved (…) I found it important that it follows”she shared. Even if she gains in income, her tax increases. Another employee already increased has experienced the same surprise. “We do not necessarily take into account the increase in tax when we are going to increase”noted Nicky Pillard, director of transformation at Isospace. Each year, to neutralize the effects of inflation, the tax scale evolves. However, in 2024, wages increased by 2.8 %, twice as fast as inflation. Compensation will therefore not be enough.
