At home, Lando Norris (McLaren) signed the best time of the second free test session of the Grand Prix of Great Britain, in front of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
British pilots are always at the party in Silverstone! While Lewis Hamilton had managed the best time of the first free test session at midday on his Ferrari, Lando Norris replied at the end of the afternoon behind his McLaren, despite the gusts of wind. The 25 -year -old pilot signed one of his 26 laps in 1’25 ″ 816, more than a second better on the time of his compatriot a few hours earlier. It must be said that the temperature had increased by 2 ° C (38 ° C on the track) and this contributed to the improvement of the lap times.
On his McLaren Papaya and Chrome (a special livery for this GP), Norris has outstripped the Ferrari by Charles Leclerc and 301 thousandths that of Lewis Hamilton by 222 thousandths. The leader of the Oscar Piastri championship (McLaren) and the world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) complete the top 5. While Hamilton, Piastri, Leclerc, Russell and Antonelli had in turn taken the lead in the ranking of this session on medium tires, then Softs, Lando Norris signed his best time after 33 minutes of session, and nobody do better afterwards.
Hadjar even better French
On the French side, Isack Hadjar signed the ninth time at the wheel of his Racing Bulls, Esteban Ocon Le 14th on his Haas and Pierre Gasly the 18th on his Alpine. But they all did better than their respective teammates (Lawson 10th, Bearman 19th, Colapinto 20th).
Apart from the head-to-one without consequence of Carlos Sainz (because of a burst of wind at 20km/h), and some slightly wide turn outings, this session was at least quiet.
On Saturday the pilots have an appointment at 12:30 p.m. (French time) for the third free test session and at 4:00 p.m. for qualifications. Two sessions where the rain could be there.
