Present in the breakaway of the day, Kaden Groves played on his road accomplices to win alone in Pontarlier this Saturday on the occasion of the 20th stage of the Tour de France.
The day before the arrival on the Champs-Elysées, the 20th stage of the Tour de France ran this Saturday between Nantua and Pontarlier over 184.2 kilometers. The route marked out with several listed difficulties played in favor of the escapes which quickly exiled. Among them, Harry Sweeny (EF Education-Easypost) has long race, up to 25 kilometers from the line. Resumed by a group of nine elements in which Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ) seemed in legs, the latter fell in the company of Ivan Romeo in a turn made sliding by the rain.
Following the ascent of the Côte de Longeville, located about twenty kilometers from Pontarlier, Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) took advantage of a moment of relaxation in the breakaway to place a fatal attack. Bearing the favorite label if the arrival was led to play the sprint, the Australian thwarted the plans of his rivals. Rolling hard, during his lonely effort, he pushed his pursuers to almost a minute in few kilometers. Whoever is usually confined to the role of pilot fish of Jasper Philipsen won for the first time on the Tour de France. A performance validating its entry into the very closed circle of runners who won a stage victory over the three large cycling towers.
