In Norman valley, farmers who maintain hedges sell the wood they harvest. It is then used for heating.
In the Norman valleys, the hedges draw the landscape. In one of the farms, there is no question of tearing these hedges because they have value. Vincent Bosselin, breeder in Tessy-Bocage (Manche), will use it to heat his house and he will sell the surplus. Shredded on site and then dried for several months, the hedges will bring in twenty euros per tonne to the producer. The wood is then used by the town to heat the gymnasium, nursery and elementary school, young space and college, located less than 200 meters from the boiler room. For six years, wood has replaced fuel oil or gas.
New farmers would currently like to join the project, but customers are missing to welcome them. Throughout the round, the network is already dense. There are around fifty boilers and eight news is scheduled for this year because this green energy also saves money. The Montebourg Ehpad (Manche), for example, is equipped with a wooden boiler, which allows 23,000 euros in savings compared to gas heating.
