Charles Leclerc completely fell for Saturday after a new failed qualification in Silverstone. The Ferrari driver has violently self-criticized on the radio.
The frustration was palpable at Ferrari on Saturday in Silverstone. Despite promising trials with a Lewis Hamilton at the top of the first session and a dominating Charles Leclerc in EL3, the qualifications on the sidelines of the Grand Prix of Great Britain turned to disenchantment for the Scuderia. Hamilton could not do better than 5th, Leclerc had to be satisfied with the 6th time. The two pilots will therefore set off since the third line this Sunday.
A bitter outcome, especially for Charles Leclerc. On the radio, the Monegasque has let his anger burst into an explicit message captured live: “P*tain, p*tain, p*tain, made ch*er! I’m so bad. I am a m*rde, that’s all I am ”. A raw reaction, like the frustration he has accumulated for several weeks.
Questioned by Canal+ a few minutes later, Leclerc tried to explain his discomfort with more perspective: “Fred (Vasseur) should be disappointed with my job. It’s been a dozen races that I lose the feeling in qualifying ”. The Ferrari driver evokes a loss of persistent marks at the crucial moment of the weekend, a situation which is seriously beginning to weigh it.
“I have enough”
At the microphone of Sky Sports, Leclerc continued in the same tone, without hiding his exasperation: “I really have enough to come here to say that there is a problem. I no longer have the same feeling with the car as qualifying last year ”. A declaration that says a lot about his nervous state.
With a race that promises to be uncertain, between a demanding route and a capricious weather, Leclerc will quickly have to find his bearings if he wants to avoid a new disappointment. Because beyond time, it is now his confidence that vacillates.
