Sunday, July 6, Philippe Brun, socialist deputy for Eure, was the political guest of the program “Politics lights up”
“The disorderly accounts are a sign of a nation that surrends”Remarks borrowed from Pierre Mendès-France last October by Philippe Brun, Socialist deputy for Eure, when the debates on the budget at the National Assembly are opened. While François Bayrou will soon present his tracks for the 2026 budget, what are the red lines of the Socialist Party for the announcements? “We will come together in seminar next Thursday to have a copy and we will have a concrete response from July 15 with our proposals, which are quite different from those which are being programmed by the government”explains Philippe Brun, guest of “the policy lights up” on Franceinfo.
According to him, no effort will be accepted on “People who work hard”,, “Popular classes” AND “Average classes”. “Any increase in VAT, any indexing of small pensions, people who have worked hard all their lives, it will be without us”he says, just like for measures “Access to health access”.
To find the 40 billion euros in order to fill the public debt, can taxes are enough? “What the stability program and the public finance program plan plan for, it is not 40 but rather 23 billion euros. If we reduce the deficit too quickly, we will have austerity and it will destroy jobs”underlines Philippe Brun.
About an upcoming meeting with François Bayrou, the socialist deputy indicates that he will be well received, just like Boris Vallaud, Patrick Kanner and Olivier Faure. “The discussions will start and they are important, since the interest of the country is to have a budget”he underlines.
