Opponent Chayma Issa has started a hunger strike to protest what she considers to be an unjustified act of violence during her arrest. His family expresses serious concern about his state of health and calls on the authorities to guarantee his physical integrity as well as his right to dignified treatment.
According to the activist’s sister, interviewed by the newspaper Tumédia, this Monday, December 1, 2025, Chayma Issa suffered a foot injury, a consequence of the violence she suffered at the time of her arrest. This injury requires treatment.
Member of the National Salvation Front, Chayma Issa was arrested on November 29, 2025 at the heart of the demonstration in defense of freedoms organized in downtown Tunis. She was sentenced to twenty years in prison in the so-called case of conspiracy against state security.
According to her testimony, Chayma Issa was mishandled at the time of her arrest, which caused her an injury requiring treatment.
