“We don’t pay them millions, we give them 150 euros at Christmas time to be able to buy gifts for their children or their nephews, reacts, Tuesday, November 4, on franceinfo Manuel Bompard, deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône and coordinator of La France insoumise while the government plans, as part of discussions on the state budget for 2026, to eliminate the Christmas bonus paid to people who receive the RSA and to unemployed people at the end of their rights, without children. “It’s despicable”he adds.

This means that these people will no longer be able to lend a hand to their nephew or niece. Even if they don’t have children, they still have a family.” The Minister of Labor and Solidarity, Jean-Pierre Farandou, defended himself on France Inter on Tuesday by affirming that “the generosity we have known for decades may have come to an end.”

Manuel Bompard reaffirms his opposition to this budget: “I will do my best to fight it and prevent it, because it is socially unjust.” He calls for a “economic bifurcation” on the part of the government. “Not only is this budget unfair from a social point of view, but it also drives us into a corner from an economic point of view”he assures. “Madame de Montchalin says: ‘You want to derail the budget’, but she is derailing the country”he denounces.

The rebellious elected official also hears “beat” the Social Security budget, the examination of which opens Tuesday in the National Assembly. “The Social Security budget that Madame de Montchalin is proposing is also the one that makes seven billion savings in health spending. It also provides for the doubling of medical deductibles”he adds.

“I am in favor of reducing this (Social Security) deficit, but by restoring revenues that have been eliminated in recent years.”

Asked about the suspension of the pension reform, the LFI deputy denounced the government’s intentions. During the committee’s examination of the Social Security financing bill for 2026, the deputies adopted, on Friday evening, the article providing for a modification of the timetable for application of the 2023 reform concerning the age of eligibility for retirement rights: “It’s not called a suspension of the pension reform, it’s called a one-year delay in the entry into force of retirement at age 64. It’s called a showoff, not progress”reacts the LFI coordinator.

The deputy addressed the socialists, who had pledged not to overthrow the government straight away in exchange for this suspension of the pension reform: “Recognize the impasse you have put yourself in and get out of this quagmire.” And according to him, the only “The way to get out of this quagmire is to immediately censor the government”. “We are ready, obviously, to table a motion of censure as soon as the socialists tell us ‘Now we are going to censor’. I am not going to table a motion of censure for fun”he explains.
