After being touched at the head against Vannes, on June 7, Louis Bielle-Biarrey will miss the semi-final of the Top 14 between Bordeaux-Bègles and Toulon, scheduled for this Saturday evening in Lyon.
It is a very big blow for the UBB currently in the fight for the title this season in Top 14. Indeed, holder on the last day of the French championship against Vannes (59-28), on June 7 at the Chaban Delmas stadium, Louis Bielle-Biarrey had then been hit at the level of the head.
However, according to information from Canal+, confirmed since by the team, the Bordeaux-Bègles winger will suddenly be forfeited this Saturday for the semi-final of the Top 14 against Toulon, in Lyon (9:05 p.m.). Released at the end of the meeting against the Breton training and replaced by Nans Ducuing (73rd), the XV of France winger (19 selections, 33 tests) had then been left to rest by the UBB staff when the rest of the team was on an internship on the side of Seignosse.
The idea was then not to take any risk with their young player (21 years old) and thus hope that he could come back in time to challenge the RCT.
Bielle-biarrey back in the event of a final
“We give him the time of rest he needs and each time we can put him at rest, we do it. It is true that it is not simple with Louis at the moment. We will have to ask the question of the rest of Louis Bielle-Biarrey, “said Yannick Bru, the manager of the recent European champions, at a press conference, in comments made by Rugbyrama on Monday.
To replace “LBB”, author of 13 tests in 15 games this season in Top 14, the latter will probably have to choose between Arthur Retière and Pablo Uberti for next Saturday. Note that according to the team, Bielle-Biarrey could however return to the competition the following week for the final of the Top 14, scheduled for Saturday June 28 at the Stade de France. For this, the UBB will therefore have to offer Toulon in the semi-finals.
