The regional directorate of civil protection in Jendouba published, Friday, December 26, 2025, an alert press release calling on residents of the region to exercise increased vigilance, due to the expected deterioration of weather conditions. The authorities particularly warn of the dangers linked to rivers, strong winds and thunderstorms.
Unstable weather conditions and high risks
According to this press release, the civil protection services are closely monitoring developments in the weather situation from this Friday. Stormy rain is forecast, locally heavy, accompanied by strong gusts of wind, which significantly increases the risk of flash floods, flooding and accidents.
In this context, the regional civil protection directorate urges citizens to avoid risk areas, in particular the surroundings of wadis and places likely to experience significant flows. She emphasizes the need to take no risks when trying to cross rivers, even when the level seems low, recalling that this type of behavior is often the cause of serious or even fatal accidents.
Recommendations to citizens and prevention measures
Officials also recommend securing objects that could be blown away by the wind, such as signs, signs or other loose equipment, to prevent injuries and property damage. Furthermore, it is strongly recommended not to approach electrical poles and installations during and after rain, due to the risk of electrocution.
Civil protection also warns against parking vehicles under trees during episodes of violent winds and storms. Falling branches, or even the uprooting of entire trees, can cause significant damage to vehicles and represent a serious danger for people.
Vigilance on the roads and monitoring of weather developments
When it comes to traffic, drivers are urged to exercise extra caution, reduce their speed and avoid any reckless or adventurous driving, particularly on slippery roads or near flood zones.
Finally, the regional management recommends that the population regularly monitor developments in the weather situation through the media and strictly comply with the instructions of the competent authorities. In the event of an emergency situation, citizens are invited to immediately contact civil protection at number 198.
A meteorological situation marked by expected heavy rains
The National Institute of Meteorology (INM) issued a weather alert on Friday December 26, 2025. According to this bulletin, the weather situation will be, from the afternoon onwards, favorable for temporarily stormy rains in the north and locally the center of the country.
This precipitation should sometimes be intense at the end of the day and during the night, particularly in the governorates of Nabeul, Sousse, Monastir, Zaghouan, Greater Tunis and Bizerte, with accumulations of between thirty and fifty millimeters, locally reaching 80 millimeters, accompanied by hail and gusts of wind under the storm cells.
The Institute also specifies that this instability will continue on Saturday December 27, 2025, with rain expected in the northern and central eastern regions, particularly marked in the Cap Bon region.
