Hall 1 of Lyon station in Paris was evacuated on Monday, December 29, after a compressed gas bottle exploded in luggage, causing minor traffic disruptions, SNCF Gares et Connexions announced to AFP. “There was no damage, no injuries and we very quickly identified where it came from”explains the SNCF subsidiary.

The SNCF services established a security perimeter around the baggage and called in a team of deminers after the explosion of this cylinder “used for cooking”adds the group. “We initiated the usual procedure, there was no crowd movement or panic”assures the subsidiary. The incident lasted less than an hour, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., causing only “minor disturbances” on traffic, with delays of “15 or 20 minutes maximum”says Gares et Connexions.
