Marc Marquez won in Mugello

This Sunday, Spaniard Marc Marquez won the Italian Grand Prix, counting for the MotoGP World Championship. This is his 93rd career victory.

Marc Marquez was the strongest. This Sunday, at the end of the 23 racing laps made on the Mugello circuit, the Ducati driver, who was leading during the ninth round, won the Italian Grand Prix, counting for the MotoGP World Championship. Upon arrival, the pilot was ahead of his younger brother Alex, who takes second place. Alex Marquez (Ducati) resisted well until the end, after having, however, had to undergo the pressure of Fabio Di Giannantonio, in the last lap. The Italian from Ducati-VR46 finally finished in third place.

Very fit in this race, the Transalpine had offered the luxury of exceeding one of his compatriots, in the person of Francesco Bagnaia. The 2022 and 2023 world champion, Marc Marquez teammate, finally finished at the foot of the podium, despite the support of around 160,000 spectators. Bagnaia evolved on his lands and had even won the last three editions of this Italian Grand Prix. Marc Marquez, meanwhile, had already established himself on this same circuit, in the queen category, but it was in 2014.

Quartararo 14th, Zarco abandoned

The Spaniard, already winner of the Sprint race for this Saturday, is now in five victories this season, at 93 successes since the start of his immense career, all categories combined (67 in MotoGP). 93 is also the number that Marquez has on its motorcycle. Marc Marquez, Sextuple World Champion, takes the opportunity to further consolidate his place as a leader in the general classification of the World MotoGP pilot championship, after this ninth round (out of 22 planned).

With 270 points, the Spaniard has 40 units ahead of his younger brother and 110 on Bagnaia. Victim of a dislocation of a shoulder this Friday, the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who went to the fourth position on the grid, ends in fourteenth place. For his part, his compatriot Johann Zarco (Honda-LCR) fell and was quickly forced to abandon.
