Marine Le Pen judged, Tuesday December 2 on BFMTV, “extremely dangerous” the idea put forward by Emmanuel Macron of a “labeling” media to fight against disinformation and considers that Arcom should not monitor private televisions which have “the right not to be neutral”. Although Emmanuel Macron stressed that this label should be carried by the media themselves because “It’s not up to the government to say this is information, this is not.” Marine Le Pen sees this as a desire of head of state “to master information”.
Since the weekend, the right and the far right, whether political or media, have been up in arms against this idea put forward by the head of state during debates with readers of the regional press. Faced with these criticisms, the Élysée issued a message on Monday evening on to deplore that “talking about fighting disinformation arouses disinformation” in reference to an editorial by the star host of the CNews group, Pascal Praud, who denounced “the authoritarian temptation of the president”.
The head of the RN deputies considers that the audiovisual policeman, Arcom, “should only monitor public service”. “There are also private televisions which are not neutral”she recognized, in an allusion to CNews, owned by the Bolloré group, but she considered that private television had “perfectly the right not to be neutral”. Marine Le Pen also estimated that there “has an obvious problem of public service neutrality”which she wishes “privatization”.
