82,000 cars can no longer circulate since Tuesday, June 17, because deemed too dangerous due to the presence of defective airbags of the Takata company which are the subject of a recall. With the massive immobilization of Citroën C3 and DS3 manufactured from 2014 to 2019, automotive professionals must face a significant demand for replacement parts. “”We try to order the pieces very quickly to be able to make an appointment and replace them within ten days“Explains Alain Gauny, workshop manager at CDR Lattes (Hérault).
To change the airbag of the steering wheel and that of the passenger, it takes a good hour of intervention on average. The old airbags are carefully sealed in boxes which will then be recycled by the manufacturer. In total, according to Stellantis figures, more than 200,000 vehicles equipped with a Takata airbag must be repaired.
