Contagious nodular dermatosis continues to progress in Savoy and Haute-Savoie. Wednesday, July 30, four new cases of this viral disease affecting cattle were detected, bringing to 51 the number of households identified, reported The Ministry of Agriculture. The first case was detected on June 29 in Savoy, before this non -transmitted humans disease spread quickly. A month later, 51 cases were therefore identified within 31 farms in the two departments. The four new cases announced on Wednesday were noted in Haute-Savoie, which has 27 households in the disease, while Savoy records 24, said the ministry.

To stop the propagation of contagious nodular dermatosis, transmitted via sting insects, the State has ordered the systematic slaughter of any herd with a case of great emotion among breeders, and launched, on July 18, a large vaccination campaign concerning 310,000 cattle in the two Savoy as well as the neighboring departments of Ain and Isère.
